A goal gives supporters something to aim for, like a new microphone or a charity target. Supporters see a progress bar on your tip page and on stream, and WeTip can celebrate each milestone and the finish line.
How tips count toward a goal
Supporters do not pick a goal when they tip. Every successful tip counts toward every goal that is active at that moment, as long as the goal uses the same currency as the tip.
A tip does not count toward a goal that is a draft, paused, completed, archived, or past its end date.
Create a goal
- Open Creator workspace → Goals and select New goal.
- Enter a Goal title (up to 80 characters), such as
New studio microphone. - Optionally, add a description of what supporters are funding (up to 280 characters). It appears under the progress bar on your tip page.
- Enter the Target amount.
- Choose a Cadence. See the next section for the difference.
- Optionally, set an End date. Leave it empty to keep the goal running until you close it.
- Choose where the goal appears (see below).
- Leave Publish now on to go live straight away, or turn it off to save the goal as a draft.
- Select Create goal.
Choose a cadence
- One-time goal finishes when the target is reached.
- Resets every stream keeps counting until you start a new cycle yourself.
- Resets every month starts again automatically at the start of each calendar month.
Add milestones
Milestones mark steps along the way, such as Mic arm at 9,000 on the way to 45,000. Each milestone is celebrated as supporters reach it.
- A goal can have up to 6 milestones.
- Every milestone needs a name and an amount.
- A milestone cannot be larger than the goal's target.
Choose where the goal appears
- Show on tip page shows the progress bar to supporters before they tip.
- Show on stream overlay lets the Goal widget show this goal on your studio scenes.
- Celebrate on completion fires a one-off alert on stream the moment the target is reached.
If both display options are off, the goal still collects tips but is hidden everywhere.
Put a goal on stream
- Make sure the goal has Show on stream overlay turned on and is active.
- Open Creator workspace → Studio and open your scene.
- Make the Goal widget visible and select it.
- Under Goal shown, choose a goal, or leave Next active goal to show whichever goal is next.
- Publish the scene.
If the widget says No goal is published to the overlay yet, no active goal has Show on stream overlay turned on.
What happens when a goal is reached
- A one-time goal is marked Completed as soon as a tip reaches the target. If Celebrate on completion is on, the celebration plays once, on the tip that crossed the line.
- A goal that resets every stream or every month does not finish on its own. It keeps counting past the target, and the goal page shows how much it is overfunded by.
Start a new cycle
For a goal that resets every stream, select Start a new cycle on the goal when your next stream begins. The amount raised, supporter count, and milestones go back to zero.
A goal that resets every month does this on its own when a new month starts. You can still start a new cycle early.
A one-time goal cannot start a new cycle. Create a new goal instead.
Pause, edit, or remove a goal
- Pause stops a goal collecting tips without losing its progress. Select Resume to carry on.
- Edit goal changes the title, target, and other settings. Changes appear on your tip page and stream as soon as you save.
- Delete goal removes a goal for good, but only if it never received a tip.
- A goal that already received tips is archived instead of deleted, so its contributions stay on record.
